At Global Career Institute, we are committed to delivering education that aligns with international standards, workforce readiness, and professional excellence.

As a private, independent higher education provider serving the Commonwealth Caribbean, GCI continues to build strategic partnerships with respected international certification, accreditation, and professional development bodies — ensuring our students graduate with credentials recognised across industries and global markets.

Our Global Partners

Eight bodies. One global standard.

American Medical Technologists

Founded in 1939, American Medical Technologists (AMT) is a globally respected not-for-profit certification association for allied healthcare professionals.

Through this partnership, GCI students gain access to internationally benchmarked healthcare certifications, professional membership pathways, and lifelong competency support. AMT continues to be a trusted name in healthcare credentialing — supporting professionals in maintaining industry relevance and excellence.

Healthcare Credentialing

Through this partnership, GCI delivers industry-recognised certification pathways and continuing education opportunities across multiple healthcare disciplines. AAH certification strengthens employability, professional credibility, and workforce mobility.

Allied Healthcare Certification

American Medical Certification Association

AMCA examinations have been administered to tens of thousands of candidates across all 50 U.S. states and internationally — validating professional knowledge, technical competence, and workforce readiness. Through this partnership, GCI students access globally recognised certification pathways that strengthen their career positioning.

Occupational Health & Safety

AOSH UK

Educational Accreditation

International Education Quality Council

The International Education Quality Council (IEQC) is an independent global accreditation body established to promote excellence and quality assurance across educational institutions worldwide.

Through alignment with IEQC standards, GCI strengthens its commitment to academic quality assurance, institutional governance, student learning outcomes, international educational benchmarking, and continuous institutional improvement.

Training Accreditation

Global Career Institute is aligned with the standards of the American Council of Training and Development (ACTD) — a U.S.-based professional training accreditation organisation focused on workforce development, instructional excellence, and professional learning systems.

This alignment supports GCI’s executive education, healthcare workforce development, and corporate training initiatives — ensuring our programmes meet the highest standards of instructional design and professional outcomes.

Emergency & Life-Saving Training

Emergency Care & Safety Institute

Global Career Institute is an Authorised ECSI Training Centre. The Emergency Care & Safety Institute (ECSI) is an internationally recognised provider of life-saving education, including CPR, AED, and First Aid certification — designed for individuals and professionals preparing to respond confidently in acute emergencies.

Equal Opportunity Policy

Equal Opportunity
Policy.

A formal commitment to fairness, dignity, and access — across every dimension of institutional life at Global Career Institute.

Effective Date 25 August 2025
Next Review 25 August 2028
Approved By Executive Director / Board of Directors

Global Career Institute (GCI) is unequivocally committed to fostering an inclusive, equitable, and respectful learning and working environment.

GCI affirms the principle that all individuals — regardless of age, race, gender, ethnicity, religion, socioeconomic status, or physical ability — must be provided equal access to educational and developmental opportunities.

The Principles That Guide Us.

Fairness and equality of opportunity
Respect for human dignity
Sensitivity to diverse backgrounds and needs
Zero tolerance for discrimination or bias in any form

Communication & Accessibility.

GCI ensures that this policy is clearly communicated and readily accessible to all stakeholders through the following channels:

Institutional Documentation

  • Included in the Student Handbook
  • Incorporated within the Staff Handbook and Employee Policy Manual
  • Embedded within the Quality Management System (QMS) Manual
  • Referenced in the Academic Policy and Procedures Manual
  • Filed as a formal policy within the Governance and Compliance section of institutional records

Digital Accessibility

  • Published on the official GCI website under the “Policies” or “Student Resources” section
  • Accessible through the student portal and Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Distributed electronically to new students and staff during onboarding

Orientation & Training

  • Communicated during student orientation sessions
  • Reviewed during staff induction and professional development training
  • Reinforced during periodic institutional briefings and policy review sessions

Grievance & Appeals Process Transparency.

The Grievance and Appeals Policy outlines:

  • Clear procedures for filing complaints
  • Defined timelines for review and response
  • Levels of escalation
  • Protection against retaliation
  • Confidential handling of complaints

Stakeholders are informed of these procedures upon entry into the Institute and reminded periodically through official communication channels.

Governance Oversight.

The Board of Directors, under Article V of the By-Laws, retains oversight authority for policy approval and periodic review. The Executive Director is responsible for implementation and enforcement.

Reports of policy breaches, complaint trends, and appeals outcomes are reviewed as part of governance monitoring processes. This policy supports GCI’s strategic goal of creating an enabling environment where all learners and staff can thrive and contribute meaningfully to national and regional development.

Compliance Framework
  • The Equal Opportunity Act of Trinidad and Tobago (Chap. 22:03)
  • International best practices on inclusive education

Operational Mechanisms.

To ensure that this policy is practically enforced and not merely aspirational, Global Career Institute operationalises the following mechanisms within its institutional governance and quality assurance framework:

— 01

Institutional Accountability and Governance Integration

The Equal Opportunity Policy is embedded within GCI’s Quality Management System (QMS) and governed through established institutional structures, including the Board of Directors and the Executive Director. These bodies ensure that equality, fairness, and inclusion are explicitly addressed in all governance decisions, academic policies, recruitment practices, and resource allocations. Regular reports on compliance and equity outcomes are incorporated into the institution’s management review process and strategic planning cycle, ensuring accountability and continuous improvement at the highest level of institutional leadership.

— 02

Education, Training, and Capacity Building

GCI implements ongoing professional development and sensitisation programmes for faculty, staff, and students to strengthen awareness and competence in diversity, inclusivity, and cultural responsiveness. These initiatives foster a culture of mutual respect, promote inclusive teaching and learning environments, and ensure that all members of the GCI community are fully equipped to uphold the principles of equity and non-discrimination.

— 03

Accessible Reporting and Redress Mechanisms

GCI maintains clear, confidential, and accessible grievance procedures for reporting any form of discrimination, harassment, or inequitable treatment. The process ensures impartial investigation, timely resolution, and protection from retaliation for complainants. All reports and outcomes are documented and analysed to identify patterns or systemic issues requiring corrective action. Procedures are widely communicated through the Student Handbook, Staff Manual, and the institutional website — ensuring that all stakeholders are aware of their rights and available avenues for redress.

— 04

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Continuous Improvement

Compliance with this policy is systematically monitored through internal audits, stakeholder feedback, and periodic evaluations conducted by the Quality Assurance Committee. Data collected on access, participation, and outcomes are used to identify disparities and inform targeted improvements. Recommendations from these evaluations are reviewed by senior management and integrated into institutional planning — ensuring that the Equal Opportunity Policy remains dynamic, responsive, and evidence-based.

Through these mechanisms, Global Career Institute ensures that the Equal Opportunity Policy is not only declarative but operational — fully integrated into its academic, administrative, and governance practices.

Scope of Non-Discrimination.

GCI is committed to creating and sustaining a diverse, inclusive, and equitable environment in which all individuals — regardless of age, race, gender, ethnicity, religion, or physical ability — have equal access to learning, growth, and development.

This policy affirms that no candidate, student, or staff member shall face discrimination in:

  • Admissions and registration
  • Instruction and assessment
  • Certification and awards
  • Employment and promotion
  • Access to support services or institutional benefits

Through this commitment, GCI fosters an inclusive academic culture that enables all citizens of Trinidad and Tobago — and, by extension, the wider Caribbean region — to acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to contribute meaningfully to society.

Purpose & Strategic Intent.

The primary objectives of this policy are to:

  • Eliminate barriers to educational and professional access
  • Ensure equitable treatment in all institutional processes
  • Reflect the diversity of society within the institution
  • Promote cultural competence, tolerance, and respect

Institutional Culture.

At GCI, inclusion is operationalised through daily practices and long-term planning. We strive to:

  • Meet the unique needs and circumstances of every student and client
  • Celebrate diversity as a strategic asset
  • Create safe spaces for dialogue, expression, and learning

Policy Review.

This policy is reviewed annually to ensure its continued relevance and alignment with national equity legislation and stakeholder feedback.
