What Is a Phlebotomy Technician?

A Phlebotomy Technician is trained to collect blood specimens from patients for laboratory testing, screening and other clinical purposes. Students must understand patient identification, infection prevention, blood collection equipment, venipuncture procedures, capillary collection, specimen integrity, patient communication, order of draw and the correct handling and transportation of specimens.
